Choir

The GFWC-Charlotte Choir is a fun group led by director Val Reisen and accompanied by pianist Mary June Garn. Currently there are about 20 members. The choir meets on Tuesday mornings from 9-10 am in the First Congregational Church. They sing for the Club in the fall, at nursing homes and for Rotary at Christmas time, at the Club's annual Christmas Tea, and at the Senior Tea to honor graduation seniors from Charlotte High School.  To join the choir, contact Val Reisen at valreisen@gmail.com.

The choir performed at Sensations Memory Care to sing carols for residents this Christmas.

This group participates in 3-4 projects a year that average about 2 hours.  Sign-up sheets are provided at the first meeting and at other meetings if the sessions aren’t full.  There is often about a $5 charge for materials.  There are about three leaders and the group size varies with each activity.

Arts and Nursing Scholarships

A chair promotes applying for these scholarships offered by GFWC MI and provides applications at the high school, library, hospital, and to Club members. A well as any high school student, any adult wishing to further their education in the fields of arts or nursing is eligible. These scholarships are for $500 each.   Applications for the scholarship are processed through the GFWC-Charlotte club president and are due by January 15th.  The application is forwarded to the state with the club's recommendation. Applications are then reviewed by a panel of judges and competition is state-wide. GFWC-Charlotte has had great success in recommending applicants for this grant.  These scholarships are funded by the GFWC clubs in the state, and our club has donated to these scholarships for many years.
