Member Programs
Hand to Hand
This group helps Club members in need due to illness, bereavement, handicap, etc. For example, they provide transportation to medical appointments and Club meetings and give assistance with grocery shopping and preparing meals. For more information contact Lorraine Green, the Chair of Hand to Hand.
Memory Book
The Memory Book committee collects photos, flyers, newspaper articles, and other Club memorabilia to compile into a scrapbook. A new Memory Book is created each year, and the most recent book is often shared at Club meetings. Past Memory Books are stored in the Courthouse Square Museum. Digital versions of past Memory Books may be available here soon! For more information, contact Memory Book Chair, Jessica Sumego.
Ms. Federation / Woman of Achievement
This committee consists of the current club president, one club member with three years or less years of membership, and three with more than three years. See the Bylaws for the nomination criteria, selection process and time requirements. The committee chooses our local winner and honors the recipient at the December meeting. These awards are given in alternate years by GFWC MI at the annual convention in the spring – Woman of Achievement in even years and Ms. Federation in odd years. Ms. Federation recognizes one for their service and involvement in club and federation work. Woman of Achievement considers community service, as well as club and federation work.
2025 Woman of Achievement: Pat Campion
Pat joined GFWC-Charlotte in October 2016 and was sponsored by Barb VanderMolen. She wasted no time getting actively involved in the Club. She has served on the Board of Directors for several years as our Historian as well as working up the chairs and serving as president 2022-24. She participates in Tea and Tomes Book Club, choir, Kind News, mini trips, arts and crafts, SIREN Tea, and the CHS Senior Tea, as well as attending our Club meetings regularly. Her technological skills came to light when she began making our Club presence on Facebook. She also improved on how reporting was provided to GFWC MI. Pat has been a big help to the Club by taking photos at events for the newsletter. She also archived all the newsletters and memory books digitally. Pat is married to Phil Campion and has three children. She taught fourth grade at Maple Valley Schools, is a Mary Kay Consultant since 1983, & volunteers at the CPAC. She has sung, danced and directed shows. Pat is a Red Hatter, active at the First Baptist Church where she is the Women’s Home Fellowship Communications President, held several offices in the Optimist Club, served on the Charlotte Public Education Foundation board and is a well-known author of several books on the people, homes and businesses in Charlotte. Pat also served on the Lansing Town Hall Board for several years and has taken leadership training. From her community involvement, Pat knows almost everyone in town and continues to be a very valuable member of GFWC-Charlotte, showing young women how to lead.
